FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Statement from Merle Griff, Chair, National Adult Day Services Association on the Passage of the Older Americans Act

The National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA) commends Congress for passing the 16th reauthorization of the Older Americans Act (OAA). The programs authorized under the OAA, including adult day services and other home and community-based services (HCBS), help older Americans remain in their own homes and help them live longer, more independent lives.

In particular, we are pleased that the OAA includes provisions for enhanced government coordination of HCBS programs and outreach under the National Family Caregiver Support Program. These provisions will help adult day services providers nationwide expand the structured, comprehensive programs they offer to functionally and/or cognitively impaired adults and promote the value of adult day to their loved ones.

We urge Congress to continue supporting legislation like the OAA that will help Americans understand the value of programs like adult day services in their communities.
