Regional Forums Provide Opportunity for Input on Aging Issues

Posted January 16, 2015 in Uncategorized

Provide input for the upcoming National White House Conference on Aging through regional forums.  Each will allow planning staff to hear directly from the public on issues such as ensuring retirement security, promoting healthy aging, providing long-term services and support, and protecting older Americans from financial exploitation, abuse, and neglect. They will also help planning staff to reach older Americans and their caregivers, advocates, and other stakeholders where they live.

Regional forums are scheduled as follows:

  • February 19, Tampa, FL
  • March 31, Phoenix, AZ
  • April 9, Seattle, WA
  • April 27, Cleveland, OH
  • May 28, Boston, MA.

The regional forums are co-sponsored by AARP and being planned in coordination with the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations, a coalition of which the National Adult Day Services Association is a member with more than 70 of the nation’s leading organizations serving older Americans. While participation is by invitation, all of the events will be live webcast to engage as many people as possible.

Provide Feedback on Proposed USDA Rules for CACFP

Posted January 12, 2015 in Uncategorized

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released a proposed rule on Friday, January 9, 2015, with new science-based nutrition standards for meals provided through USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).  The rule will provide older adults and adults in nonresidential daycare settings greater access to nutritious foods.  Adult day centers that participate in the CACFP are encouraged to provide feedback on the proposed changes.  Read the Proposed CACFP Rule

Those interested in reviewing the proposal and offering comments during the 90 day period are encouraged to do so once it is published at www.regulations.gov, a Web-based portal to make it easy for citizens to participate in the federal rulemaking process. All comments received will be considered carefully in finalizing the rule before it is implemented

For more information about the proposed changes, please visit: www.fns.usda.gov/cacfp/federal-register-documents.
