Hats off to 4,600 adult day centers providing supervised daily health care to over 250,000 people in the United States so the people can continue to live in their own communities and homes!  We extend greetings from Milwaukee, WI, site of the 2011 National Adult Day Services Conference, which is being held in partnership with the Wisconsin Adult Day Services Association.

Bus Driver Helps Save Adult Day Participant’s Life

A participant who attends Daybreak Adult Day Services in Frederick, MD, benefitted from the training and responsiveness of his bus driver on the way to the adult day center recently.  The ride proved to be more than a trip to a service that increases his quality of life.  The transportation gaining him access to the essential service saved his life.  Learn how his bus driver helped save his life.  Read more…

Long-term care costs continue to rise according to the 2011 MetLife Market Survey of Nursing Home, Assisted Living, Adult Day Services and Home Care Costs.   National average rates for a private nursing home room increased 4.4% to $239 daily or $87,235 annually, in 2011. Assisted living base rates rose by 5.6% to $3,477 monthly or $41,724 annually. Adult day services went up by 4.5% to $70 per day after remaining unchanged in last year’s study. Home health aides and homemaker/companion service rates were unchanged at $21 and $19 per hour, respectively.  Read more.
