NADSA has been selected as one of several organizations across the aging and disability networks to support the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative which is led by USAging. Through funding from the U.S. Administration for Community Living, this effort will support local vaccination promotion efforts targeted to older adults and people with disabilities where there is a critically acute need. Despite the widespread availability of COVID-19 and flu vaccines, only 36 percent of older adults have received a bivalent booster and only 15 percent had received a flu shot in 2022—and the numbers are comparable for people with disabilities.
The Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative will distribute funding that will enable to perform an array of vaccination promotion activities. Organizations will host community vaccine clinics, provide in-home vaccinations, provide transportation to vaccination sites, and will conduct outreach and education to older adults and people with disabilities among other activities. More information from the Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative is available at https://www.usaging.org/advc.
There will also be continued access to pathways for emergency use authorizations (EUAs) for COVID-19 products (tests, vaccines, and treatments) through the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and major telehealth flexibilities will continue to exist for those participating in Medicare or Medicaid according to the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).
Access to COVID-19 vaccinations and certain treatments, such as Paxlovid and Lagevrio, will generally not be affected. To help keep communities safe from COVID-19, HHS remains committed to maximizing continued access to COVID-19 vaccines and treatments. For additional information, click on the following links:
