Beyond Planning: Creating Engaging Activities for those with Dementia

How do you create meaningful, engaging, and fun programs for those with dementia?
How do you ensure they are appropriate for each member’s cognitive level?
Can you take a planned program off the page and bring it to life?

Objectives:
In this webinar, we will answer these questions and provide you with a toolbox for developing your own engaging programs. By using person-centered principles, activities should be developed for your specific audience. Providing these types of activities results in a robust program where member’s feel empowered and go home feeling accomplished.

Cultural Diversity through Activities in Adult Day Services

The face of Adult Day Services is changing and so is the way we provide Activity Services. It’s an exciting time to embrace the growing number of programs that contain a complex mix of races, cultures, languages, and religious affiliations. In addition, the U.S. population includes more than 43 million people with physical and mental disabilities. Providing diverse Cultural Activities will enhance the overall experience for participants in your center’s Activity program. Valuing diverse backgrounds can help people thrive and create an understanding and acceptance in this ever-changing society.

Objectives:
-Discover how people from different cultures and backgrounds hold similar values and beliefs that are developed through activities and customs.
-Learn how to program plan activities for a variety of cultures.
-Understand the Pros and Cons and Do’s and Don’ts of program planning for Cultural Diversity.
-S.P.I.E.S. — Create a spectacular calendar using this modality.
